...And you may ask yourself
- What is that beautiful house? And you may ask yourself - Where does that highway go? And you may ask yourself - Am I right? ...am I wrong? And you may tell yourself - My God!...what have I done? (Talking Heads, 1980)

Nine years ago Mark and I set off on a journey. It was a journey that would embed the children of China into our hearts forever and teach us that God's plan is WAY better than our plan. It has been a journey into faith, obedience and abundant blessings. Over the past nine years we have seen God's hand at work in our lives as we traveled through the wilderness in search of His plan for our lives upon this earth. In April of this year God revealed the next chapter of the Lucas story. Join us as we embark once again on another leg in this Marvelous expedition.

Surgery is over

It is done and everything went very well.  The surgery took 7 hours instead of 3 - but apparently they just threw the number 3 out there to keep us guessing.  The left leg took longer because they had to reshape the end of his femur. They called us every couple hours and kept us updated so we weren't really worried - but the day got pretty long.

Mikey was pretty groggy, but woke up enough to know we were here and that his sisters had come to visit.  I stayed at the hospital with him and he would wake up and say how hungry he was and it was just killing me to tell him he couldn't eat yet.   Finally, the nurse said he could eat.  He had some soup and a cereal bar and he was a happy boy.

He is not in any pain yet.  They gave him an epidural with a nice cocktail of pain meds so he really can't feel anything below his waist.  The staff here has been awesome and Mikey has been such a good patient.  Everyone has fallen in love with him.  I am not sure how long he will be here.  One person says Friday - another Saturday but i can't imagine him being ready to go home before Saturday.

I guess that is all for now.  Thank you all for the calls and prayers.  We have seen a huge outpouring of love for Mikey and appreciate everyone so much.
